演講摘要:As the characteristic feature sizes of materials and structures are at or near nanometer scale, it is still an unsettled question whether the conventional continuum theory could still apply. In our research group, we employed molecular simulation method to study the mechanical properties of various nano-materials, e.g., piezoelectric material, shape memory alloy, and nano-structures, e.g., graphene, nanotube. The applicability of continuum theory at nanoscale was examined by comparing the simulated behaviors of nano-materials/nano-structures with the theoretical prediction.
